Jean Genie was formed
in 1993 following the discovery of the David Bowie look and sound-alike artiste
John Mainwaring. Jean Genie were one of the first tribute bands to play
alongside the original artistes having played alongside the original "Spiders
from Mars" at the "Mick Ronson Memorial concert" after show party, when they
played before stars Joe Elliott (Def Lepperd), Roger Daltrey (The Who) and
Roger Taylor (Queen) and many others.
Jean Genie have headlined the
"David Bowie Fan Club Convention" for 2 years. With their multi-coloured
costume changes and dazzling effects they have played at concerts worldwide,
including the "Hastings Music Festival", the prestigious Olympia Theatre and
many Irish tours.
Jean Genie are well known for being perfectionists to
the point where news of their popularity has now reached David Bowie
himself. |

Elizabeth, Naomi,
Melody and Vanessa incorporate the unique sounds of the Viola, John Mainwaring,
vocalist and songwriter, has made numerous television appearances. He is a
recording artist in his own right, having had recording contracts with major
record companies. He has been number 1 in both Israel and Lebanon and has
played in many parts of Europe. Tony Visconti who produced David Bowie has
actually produced John.
Songs performed in the shows include the
classics "Heroes", "Jean Genie", "Under Pressure", "Ashes to Ashes" and many
others.
